Task 1: Project proposal

Weight: 20%
Due: 14 March 2016
Length: 800 - 1200 words

This task is the first phase of the course project in which you will design, develop, review, and share resources to support implementation of the Australian Curriculum: Technologies in primary school classrooms. The purpose of this task is to ensure that you begin work on your project early in the semester and to provide you with some initial feedback to ensure that your project is on track. It is due in the first few weeks of semester to facilitate that purpose.

Your project proposal should indicate whether you are working individually or in a group. To meet requirements it should be entered in the relevant database in Moodle (StudyDesk) and include these components.

  • a description of the Design and Technologies resource that you will develop, identifying the relevant content descriptions, and your initial sources of content and design ideas
  • a description of the Digital Technologies resource that you will develop, identifying the content descriptions and your initial sources of content and design ideas
  • a description of the major steps in the design and development process, sources of support and method(s) for sharing work in progress
  • reasons for selection of complementary content descriptions, sources, format of your resources and method(s) for sharing work in progress.

Deliverable

Your submission should be a single document comprising the required elements of the proposal. Acceptable file formats are, in order of preference, DOCX, DOC and RTF. Name your submission file simply task1 + the relevant extension, that is, task1.docx, task1.doc, or task1.rtf. The assignment system will ensure that your file is adequately identified. There is no need to add a cover sheet or copy of the marking guide.

Design and Technologies resource The proposal explains how content and design ideas will be applied to develop a resource that will align with the assigned content description and the complementary content description selected from the other strand, include key ideas from the curriculum, facilitate differentiation, and integrate general capabilities and/or cross curriculum priorities. The proposal describes how content and design ideas will be applied to develop a resource relevant to the assigned content description and the complementary content description selected from the other strand with consideration of broader curriculum goals including key ideas. The proposal describes the resource that will be developed, identifies the assigned content description and the complementary content description selected from the other strand, and nominates initial sources of content and design ideas. The proposal describes a resource to be developed and identifies the assigned content description but fails to identify a complementary content description from the other strand or to nominate initial sources of content and design ideas. The proposal does not describe a resource to be developed or fails to identify one or both of the required content descriptions.

The proposal does not describe a resource to be developed or fails to identify one or both of the required content descriptions.
Development plan The proposal meets requirements, explains how design thinking will be applied to develop the resources in response to the brief and provides a draft schedule of activity for project management. The proposal meets requirements, describes the processes to be used to develop the resources and outlines the necessary sequence of activities for project management. The proposal identifies the developer(s), major steps in the process, sources of support, and method(s) for sharing work in progress. Details are entered in the relevant database. The proposal fails to identify major steps in the process, sources of support or method of sharing work in progress or details are not entered in the relevant database. Details are not entered in the relevant database and the proposal fails to identify one or more of the major steps, sources of support or sharing method.
Rationale The proposal offers a coherent explanation of the project design including choice of content descriptions, sources, format of resources, and modes of engaging with a professional learning network to achieve quality assurance. The proposal describes the thinking that led to the selection of content descriptions, sources, formats and methods of sharing work in progress for quality assurance. The proposal includes reasons for choice of content descriptions, sources, format of resources, and methods of sharing work in progress. The proposal fails to include one of reasons for choice of content description, sources, format of resources or methods of sharing work in progress. The proposal fails to include more than one of reasons for choice of content description, sources, format of resources or methods of sharing work in progress.
